This was one of about 5 Broadsides I printed in 2010-2011 on our Chandler and Price 10X15 press under the imprint of Slack Buddha Press. I hand set the broadsides using a mix of ornaments and various type, however, the body of the text was always in Caslon 337, which we had 10 or 12 full to the bursting California job cases of in 4 different sizes with italic in all of them. As a consequence, I could set very large forms and not worry about running out of any given character.
This Broadside is a poem from my long term project, Translanations. It is a homophonic, homolinguistic translation of an Emily Dickinson poem from English to English. I have published a couple chap books and one full collection (with BlazeVox) of these poems and have around 800 still unpublished in manuscript form. I have been returning to this project over and over since I first started in the mid-90’s.
