This is a print from a series of prints I made during and after I rebuilt the transmission and transfer case of my FJ62 Toyota Land Cruiser. I printed various castings, components, and gaskets for the project. I took me two or three years to do all of the prints (the transmission rebuild took somewhat less). There were a bunch of thing that came in the rebuild kit that were for a variant or were not relevant for my rebuild. There were also all or the many worn parts I was replacing like clutch pads and disks, and totally beat up gaskets, that were fodder for my print making. I kinda went to town on the leftovers, the preterite.
This print is from the casting of the upper valve body of the transmission. It was certainly not left over. It was very difficult to print. Making it stable enough the press on it with a baren was quite the task and even so, I only got 3 usable prints out of about 30 tries. I like the passages and the bolt holes. An industrial maze.
I debossed the title along the edge of the page with our letterpress.
